DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Down two with 9.1 seconds left, Pistons rookie Jaden Ivey called a timeout that the team didn’t have. That mistake turned into extra points for Chicago as they went on for a 117-115 win over Detroit.
“It wasn’t Ivey’s fault,” said head coach Dwane Casey. “He panicked, but the game wasn’t won or loss on that one play. It was lost in the first quarter. With the laissez-faire approach we had defensively, they got whatever they wanted. It’s such a mountain to climb when you get behind in this league.”

The game was then tied at 110 and 112 before Chicago made two free throws with 48.2 seconds left. Detroit then took their last time out after the free throws and missed their shot coming out of it. After Chicago missed a shot with 12 seconds left, Bogdanovic rebounded the ball as the clock said 9.1. That’s when the extra timeout was called and Detroit was issued a technical foul. Chicago made the free throw and took the ball back as they were fouled a second later making both free throws for a five-point game, 117-112. Corey Joseph sank a three-pointer with 4.1 seconds left to make the final, 117-115.
