LENNON, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – The village of Lennon, which straddles the Shiawassee County and Genesee County lines, is moving forward to eliminate eyesores in the community.

An abandoned supermarket and bank will be razed after sitting abandoned for years. The buildings also posed a safety hazard.

Lennon will use a $75,000 blight elimination grant from the Shiawassee Land Bank to knock down a neighboring structure.

Two structure fires in the last three months burned an old hardware store and part of the abandoned supermarket and bank.

Demolition plans are set for the spring and redevelopment options are on the table.
