ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Scoring two goals in the final period to upset no. 1 seed Minnesota, Michigan won their second straight Big Ten Tournament Championship, 4-3. Dylan Duke captured the game winning goal with 8:14 left to play putting Michigan up, 4-3. Michigan then found out on Sunday night they would the no. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament traveling to Allentown, Pa., for the regional tournament.

Minnesota scored the go-ahead goal, 3-2, just over two minutes into the third period. Just under four minutes later, Seamus Casey tied the game at three on an assists from Rutger McGroarty and Gavin Brindley. Dukes’ game winning goal came six minutes later making it 4-3.

The Gophers started the game with a 1-0 lead in the first period. Michigan battled back for a 2-1 lead in the second period as McGroarty netted the first goal at 3:12. He then gave the Wolverines the lead, 2-1, at just 30 seconds later. Minnesota tied the game at two at 10:48 before heading into the third period.

Headed to the NCAA Tournament with the win, Michigan made their 40th NCAA Tournament appearance winning 55 games for a .640 winning percentage. Michigan has been the overall no. 1 seed in 2008 and 2022 and was the fourth no. 1 in 2009 and 2012.

Michigan will start their journey for a 10th national championship on Friday, March 24, at 8:30 p.m. at the PPL Center on ESPNU.
