LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A tweet from the Michigan GOP made the rounds on Wednesday, drawing criticism and outrage from both sides of the political aisle.

The tweet referenced the current gun reform bills making their way through the Michigan Legislature, but also posted an image which referenced governmental collection of guns lead to the Holocaust.

Later on Wednesday, Michigan GOP Co-chair Kristina Karamo doubled-down on the tweet in a press conference. She released this statement.

 

Lavora Barnes, Karamo’s counterpart with the Michigan Democrats, called the tweet “vile rhetoric” and the follow-up statements at the press conference “shameful.”
