“The unwavering dedication and tireless training in the months leading up to nationals truly paid off,” said Adam Burlew, head action shooting coach. “I couldn’t be more pleased with the results.”

Team members were also permitted to compete individually, earning high honors in both divisions. Among male pistol shooters, Greg Clement won first place in the 1911 and centerfire divisions. Zech Steiger, ’24, placed second in the centerfire division. Sarah Wagoner, ’23, won first place in the women’s 1911 division and placed third in the centerfire division.

“The team shot well, and I am proud of what we accomplished,” said Clement. “We’re grateful to Coach Burlew for his expertise and time, and to Springfield Armory for their continued support.”

Springfield Armory has sponsored the team since 2019, providing equipment and training opportunities with Rob Leatham, 24-time national and seven-time international pistol champion. The Armory’s vice president of marketing, Steve Kramer, is excited to see the Hillsdale team achieve another victory.

“It’s an honor for us to be affiliated with such a distinguished institution,” he said. “We are extremely proud to have provided support for the pistol team, who achieved remarkable success at nationals for the second year in a row.”
