INDIAN RIVER, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A Michigan campsite, Indian River RV Resort, has been named the best campground in America. The 2023 Campspot Awards selected the Indian River camp based on bookings, reviews, internal data, and camper votes.

“We’d like to express our sincere gratitude for your support and for the honor of being named one of Campspot’s Best Campgrounds in America,” the resort wrote on its Facebook page. “We aim to keep practicing excellence, so our campers are happy with their experience and want to return each year.”

Besides its RV parking, the resort offers nine climate-controlled log cabins, a heated swimming pool, and firewood with free delivery to each campsite. Visitors are encouraged to visit the nearby Mackinac Island, take a day trip to Tahquamenon Falls, or take a day trip to watch freighters navigate the Soo Locks. The resort is open from May 1 through September 30.

Jonathan Deppe, co-owner of Indian River RV Resort, said his family had been awaiting the award results for a few months and were thrilled with their win.

“It means all of the things we’ve been emphasizing and changing are what really matters to our customer base,” he told MLive. “We’ve kept the park manicured as best as we can, we’ve made the sites more roomy so they’re easier to get into and we’ve created a dog run for those who like to let their dogs loose. We maintain about 20 acres of trails and we added a picnic area back in the woods for people to stumble upon.”

Other campsites to make Campspot’s top five included On the Saco Family Campground in Brownfield, ME; The Nugget RV Resort in St. Regis, MT; Otahki Lake Cabins and Campgrounds in Patterson, MO; and Stonebridge RV Resort in Maggie Valley, NC.
