KALAMAZOO, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Released from his position as the head coach at Western Michigan University in late November, Tim Lester waited just three months for his next coaching stop. He will be heading to Green Bay to work for Matt LaFleur as a Senior Analyst.

Lester was let go as at WMU on November 28 after a 5-7 season in his sixth year as head coach. He produced a 37-32 overall record and was 26-20 in the MAC. His best season came in 2021 when WMU went 8-5 beating Nevada in the Quick Lane Bowl which was their second-ever bowl win in program history.

Having ties with LaFleur from his playing days at Western Michigan may have helped with the hiring. Both were quarterbacks together in 1998 and 1999 when Lester was the starting quarterback. Lester brings an offensive mind being a coordinator at numerous stops in 20-plus years as a coach. His talents maybe needed if Aaron Rodgers decides to leave Green Bay or is traded and Jordan Love needs to be developed. Lester is also a former quarterback’s coach at Syracuse, Purdue, and WMU.

He will now have a chance to be a part of one of the best franchises in the NFL.
