Almost $70 million dollars has been approved in the Army Corps’ 2023 budget in addition to the $1 billion already set aside for phase three in July 2022.

Project officials knew additional money would be needed even after the original contract was approved.

This funding will cover the completion of new pump wells at the new Soo Lock, as they continue to look for additional funding through completion in 2030.
