LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Albion College is under investigation by the Michigan Attorney General’s Office.

Attorney General Dana Nessel’s office has spent 10 months investigating after someone submitted a complaint about the school’s finances.

The complaint alleges Albion College violated state laws around soliciting donations when it used money from its endowment and departmental gifts to help cover costs in its operating budget.

Albion, like many small colleges, offers tuition discounts to help bolster slumping enrollment. However, that practice has left them short to be able to pay bills and make improvements.
