EAST LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – “The Rock” has been a Michigan State University mainstay for decades. After Monday night’s deadly shooting which left three students dead and five others hospitalized, “The Rock” has become a site for revolving messages.
On Tuesday, onlookers saw “The Rock” painted black and red with the message “How many more?” and “Stay Safe MSU.” By early Wednesday, someone had painted over it with the message that read, “Allow us to defend ourselves/carry on campus.”

Within hours, someone else painted over that message in black with a tribute to the three students who died: Arielle Anderson, Brian Fraser, and Alexandria Verner.
Before a campus vigil on Wednesday night, “The Rock” went through another transformation.
