DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Tying the game at one late in the first period, Detroit gave up two goals in the second to Seattle as they fell, 4-2, in Washington. The loss ended Detroit’s longest winning streak of the season as they are now 26-21-8 (60 points).

Seattle collected the first goal at 16:50 but Pius Suter tied the game just before the end of the period at 19:44. Suter’s rebound shot off a Jake Walman shot made it 1-1 for his ninth goal of the year. Seattle then scored at 2:05 and 19:52 for the 3-1 lead. It became a three-goal lead, 4-1, at 4:49 in the fourth on a 4-on-4 goal. Dylan Larkin gave Detroit their second goal at 17:39 to cut the lead to two as Tyler Bertuzzi earned his 200th career NHL point.

“We just didn’t execute tonight. They were definitely the better second-effort team and a little bigger in some situations. Again, lack of execution. We’re gonna look back at some opportunities to make plays, especially with some of our offense,” said head coach Derek Lalond.

Detroit finishes their season-long road trip on Tuesday night against the Washington Capitals.
