SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – One of the most beautiful places in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is also one of the least accessible for most people; however, a new initiative has been launched to change that.
Accessible Keweenaw Initiative (AKI) is setting out to make the Keweenaw Peninsula more accessible for visitors.

In the coming months, AKI will coordinate a series of site assessments by trained experts to identify projects in accordance with accessibility standards and guidelines.
The AKC will then work with community partners to submit proposals to local, state and federal funding partners.
