EAST LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Earning her second straight Big Ten Freshman of the Week award, West Bloomfield, Mich., native Nikki Smith helped the Spartans to a narrow 196.950-196-425 win over Maryland. She was also named the Co-Gymnast of the Week.
She scored a 39.350 finishing second in the all-around and then earned her first floor title of her career. With her third straight 9.900 score in the floor event, she tied her career high. She also set career highs on the beam with a 9.850 and scored matching 9.800s on the vault bars.

In the Big Ten, she ranks 10th in the all-around and 40th nationally with an average of 39.233. She earned her third overall event title of the season with the floor event.
MSU will be back at home on February 4 in the Jenison Field House for its National Women and Girls in Sports Day Celebration vs. Penn State at 7:00 p.m.
