ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Michigan had a strong second half scoring 42 points as they ran away with a 68-51 win in Evanston over Northwestern. Kobe Bufkin posted his first career double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds as Hunter Dickinson added 19 points.

Northwestern was held to just 15 percent from the arc making just three three-pointers and was 37 percent from the floor. Michigan finished at 41 percent from the floor after shooting 55 percent in the second half and collected seven three-pointers. Michigan also took the rebounding battle, 41-33.

It was a back-and-forth first half with five ties. Michigan’s largest lead was five, 18-13, on a Joey Baker jumper. With 1:30 left in the half, Northwestern tied it for a fifth time, 22-22, but Michigan’s Dickinson had a layup with 34 seconds left for a three-point lead, 26-23. Northwestern hit a shot with four seconds left to cut the lead to one, 26-25, at the half.

Northwestern took a quick lead to start the second half, 29-26, just 47 seconds in. Michigan responded with a 12-0 run over almost four minutes regaining the lead, 38-29, on a Baker jumper. Bufkin made it a 15-point lead, 48-33, on a jumper at 11:24, and by 9:19 his dunk on a fast break put Michigan up by 18, 55-37. That was their largest lead the rest of the half as they finished with a 17-point win, 68-51, on a Dickinson dunk with 34 seconds left.

Michigan will host Ohio State on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. on CBS.
