LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Recreation passports, which allow Michiganders to enter state parks, recreation areas, and boat launches, will increase by $1 starting March 1.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is hiking the cost to a total of $13 per year for vehicles and $7 for motorcycles. A $5 convenience fee is added when vehicle owners buy a passport at a state park.

Recreation passport fees for non-Michigan residents increased from $36 to $39 per year on Jan. 1.
Although the increase has been expected since the Department of Treasury announced the upcoming fee increase in November, the reminder comes on the heels of Michigan Democrats pushing through for $180 rebate checks for married Michiganders rather than permanent tax relief.
A video recorded during the Michigan House session last Thursday shows that Democrats squelched debate from Republicans over HB 4001.
The Michigan Senate Republicans adjourned early on Thursday while Democrats were in caucus.
Michigan’s Legislature will resume session on Tuesday.
