ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Never trailing in the rival game, Michigan dominated Ohio State in Ann Arbor, 77-69. Hunter Dickinson collected his 24th career double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds tying for 12th all-time at UM with Glen Rice.

“It’s always great to get a win at home especially in a rivalry,” said head coach Juwan Howard. “Our team was really ready from the go. You could see our energy on the defensive end from the jump ball and then you look at the box score and see how dialed in we were.”

Jett Howard added 16 points and Kobe Bufkin was just shy of a double-double with 13 points and eight rebounds. Michigan held Ohio State to 40 percent shooting making just five three-pointers 31 percent. They then made 49 percent from the floor canning eight three-pointers. OSU did out rebound UM, 36-34.

Michigan never trailed in the game taking a 12-6 lead early in the first five minutes of the game. OSU went on a 5-0 run to pull within one, 12-11, at 13:38, but UM answered on a 12-3 run to extend their lead to 10, when Bufkin hit a three-pointer at 9:50, 24-14. Howard hit a three-pointer at 6:01 to push the lead to 11, 34-23, but OSU once again had a spark in their offense on an 8-3 run pulling to within three, 34-31, at 4:19. OSU stayed within single digits the rest of the way as UM had a five-point lead at the half, 41-36.

OSU stayed within three, 45-42, just three minutes into the second half as it was still a three-point game, 50-47, with 14:04 left to play. UM went on a 6-0 run started by back-to-back Dickinson layups as Joey Baker made it a nine-point lead, 56-47. At 9:26, Dug McDaniel hit a three-pointer for an 11-point lead, 61-50. Baker then made it a 12-point lead, 64-52, at 7:23. Howard nailed a shot at 4:56 to put the lead at 13, 70-57. In the final five minutes, the lead only drop under 10 points three times but UM won wire-to-wire, 77-69.

UM will continue being at home on Wednesday when they host Nebraska at 6:30 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.
