DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – New York jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter never looking back as they held off Detroit, 117-104. Detroit is now 12-35 and 6-16 at home. Only nine players were dressed for Detroit as five scored in double figures.

Jaden Ivey and Saddiq Bey both had 21 points and six rebounds to lead the team. Kevin Knox II added 16 points as Alec Burks had 14 points and Isaiah Livers 11 points. It was an evenly matched game as both teams shot 45 percent from the floor, 40 percent from the three-point line, and 80 percent on free throws.
Ivey said, “We battled the whole game, but we should have started better. We got back into the game, but we wish we could have some of those late-game possessions back.”
It was an 11-3 start by New York putting Detroit behind early as they never recovered going down, 39-22 at the end of the first quarter. Detroit scored 33 points in the second to New York’s 23 to make it a game. NY went up by 20-points, 48-28, with 9:17 left in the quarter. Detroit slowly brought that lead own to 10, 62-52, on a Knox II layup with 35 seconds left in the half. Killian Hayes then hit a three-pointer with 16 seconds to go making it a seven-point game at the half, 62-55.
In the third quarter, Ivey put Detroit within six, 67-61, at 10:06 on a 26-foot jump shot. NY wouldn’t have a larger lead than 10 the rest of the quarter as they went into the fourth with a 10-point lead, 90-80.
NY pushed their lead to 18 points in the first two minutes of the fourth quarter, 100-82. Livers put Detroit to within seven, 105-98, on a three-pointer with 5:17 left in the game. That is as close as the Pistons would come the rest of the game as they fell, 117-104.
