DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Only down seven-points at the end of the first quarter, Detroit gave up 38 points in the second quarter to Philadelphia falling behind by 22-points at the half. That led to the 76ers taking a 31-point win, 147-116.

“I can see the growth of a daily, game-to-game basis but then I have to come in and explain to everybody why we didn’t win and that’s what’s tough,” said head coach Dwane Casey. “The easy part, the fun part is the daily, in the laboratory, coaching, teaching, film sessions, watching guys grow, listening to questions.”
Saddiq Bey, Jaden Ivey, and Rodney McGruder led the team with 17 points. Alec Burks followed with 16 points as Hamidou Diallo added 14 points and eight rebounds. Kevin Knox II had 13 points to finish off the scoring. Detroit shot 40 percent but let Philadelphia make 60 percent of their shots going 28-of-30 from the free throw line, too. Detroit made 30-of-36 from the stripe.
Philadelphia led from the beginning but Detroit pushed the 76ers in the first quarter. At the 4:29 mark, Diallo brought Detroit within six, 21-15. Less than a minute later, Burks went two-of-two from the line to keep it within six points, 23-17. That is as close as they would come as Diallo made one of two free throws with 24 seconds left as Philadelphia had a seven-point lead, 27-20.
McGruder pulled Detroit to within four, 33-29, on a three-pointer at 9:35 in the second quarter. That was the last bucket Detroit made for five minutes as the 76ers went on a 19-0 run for a 48-29 lead. Noel Nerlens hit a three-pointer to end the run but the damage was done Philadelphia had a 22-point at the half, 65-43.
Philadelphia scored 42 points in the third for a 32-point lead, 107-75. Detroit did out score the 76ers, 41-40, in the fourth quarter but couldn’t chip away at the lead falling, 147-116.
Detroit will host Minnesota on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
