LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – While some Michiganders rang in 2023 with a toast, others celebrated with a new addition to the family.
Sparrow Hospital in Lansing welcomed Sofia at 1:43 a.m. on Jan. 1. The 7 pound, 5 ounce baby girl was greeted by parents, Karen and Ben from Lansing, along with a variety of gifts, including an infant car seat.
Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids offered congratulations to Carlie Colantuono and Dennis Pettis who are the proud of parents of Lorenzo. He came into the world at 12:22 a.m. on Jan. 1 and weighed 7 pounds and 9 ounces.
Bronson BirthPlace in Kalamazoo celebrated its first delivery of 2022 with Killian Eugene Little. He is the son of Rachel and Caleb Little of Galesburg and was born at 2:30 a.m. weighing 7 pounds and 14 ounces.
A spokesperson for University of Michigan Health-West in Wyoming said four babies were born in the early morning hours of New Year’s Day.
Detroit Medical Center welcomed Mayven Pierre Clark at 12:22 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Parents Daysha and Romell from Detroit said she’s a healthy baby girl weighing 6 pounds, 14 ounces.
Ascension Michigan introduced Samiyah Grace as their first baby of 2023, who was born 25 seconds after midnight.

Corewell Health East announced Lillith Kathryn Zimmerman as their first baby born on New Year’s Day in 2023. She weighed 7 pounds, .4 ounces and was welcomed by parents Rachel McCarty and Richard Harley Zimmerman from Roseville.
In Northern Michigan, Empire residents Kileigh and Brian Jean received a double surprise for the New Year. They welcomed twins at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
