WASHINGTON (Michigan News Source) – The Biden administration said it is considering a nationwide ban on gas stoves amid the mounting concerns about what they say are the health impacts of the appliances.
Bloomberg reported on Monday that The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) plans to take action to address the so-called indoor pollution caused by stoves. In addition, it cited recent studies which allegedly showed emissions from the devices can cause health and respiratory problems.

CPSC is planning to open public comment later this year.
The move by the Biden administration appears to fall in line with its recent allegiance to solving the “climate crisis.”
However, it still remains to be seen how this may play out. In October 2022, Ann Arbor Mayor Christopher Taylor, a Democrat who supports climate policies, installed a new gas line and gas-powered fireplace in his home despite his push for the rest of the city to phase out fossil fuels.
Ann Arbor is the same city which reinstituted mask requirements for all public schools this week despite a White House official saying in recent weeks that masks don’t work.
On Thursday, Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to visit Ann Arbor to discuss climate change.
