DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – The Detroit Lions will have a new FieldTurf Core system of artificial turf at Ford Field and their practice facility in Allen Park for 2023.

Team officials say the system is the best field they can install with the safest playing surface.
Although it is not natural grass players consider it one of the best artificial surfaces stadiums can use. Coach Dan Campbell says discussions have been ongoing “for a while” about the new turf.
The new surface replaces the slit film turf that both players and their union don’t like.
