SAGINAW, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Less than one month after the Nov. 8 election which earned her another term on the Saginaw City Council, Councilwoman Autumn Scherzer is resigning. Now, the city is accepting applications for her replacement.

Scherzer submitted her letter of resignation earlier this week; the city said her letter cited personal reasons for stepping down.

Anyone interested in applying for the vacant seat must submit an application and affidavit of eligibility to the clerk’s office by  p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9.

To be eligible, applicants for the city council spot must be a U.S. citizen, 18 or older, a city resident and a registered voter in the city, and must not be in payment default of any kind to the city, according to a press release from the city.

The Saginaw City Council plans to interview applicants at a committee of the whole meeting at 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19. The council will then appoint a new member from the pool of candidates during a single-subject special meeting that same evening.
