DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Taking a 2-0 lead early, the Detroit Red Wings let the Washington Capitals back into the game eventually falling in overtime, 4-3. David Perron, Oskar Sundqvist, and Lucas Raymond all scored for the Red Wings.

Perron started the scoring in the first period at 7:30 for the early 1-0 lead. Sundqvist then had a power-play goal eight minutes later for the 2-0 lead. Washington then scored back-to-back goals just 11 seconds apart late in the second period to tie the game.

Raymond put Detroit in the lead, 3-2, in the third period (4:49) with an early goal, 3-2, when Andrew Copp found him on the in the left faceoff circle for the score. Almost a minute later, Washington tied it up on a cross-ice pass making it 3-3.

Just under five minutes into overtime, Washington’s Dmitry Orlov scored the game winning goal (4:38) to end the game.

Detroit does earn a point in the overtime loss and is now 13-11-7 with 39 points.
