LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Meijer will be one of the first retailers in the country to use all-electric semi trucks in their fleet. The company says the two Freightliner eCascadia semis will be based in Lansing and will serve stores within 200 miles of the distribution center there.

Meijer CEO Rick Keyes said that fully electrifying Meijer’s fleet in the future will help the chain market reduce carbon emissions by 50% by 2025.

The semis can charge fully in 90 minutes. Officials say the tracking effort on the trucks will determine if they add more.
