IRON COUNTY, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – One Upper Peninsula library wants to turn late fees into food for those in need.
The West Iron Library in Iron River is offering a “Food for Fines” program in November. Patrons can wipe clean their late fees or overdue library items by donating non-perishable food or toiletry items for library workers to donate to a local food pantry.

All food and items will stay local, and the library staff encourages everyone to donate regardless of late fee status.
