HOLLAND, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Hope College continues to dominate the NCAA Division III women’s basketball scene starting off the new season at 2-0. They now have an 18-game winning streak picking up where they left off last season as the national champions.
They started the season hosting the Tip-Off Classic at the DeVos Fieldhouse earning wins over Geneva College and Illinois Wesleyan. Their first win of the season set a new NCAA Division III scoring record for points in a game, 145-57, over Geneva College almost winning by 100 points. In a rematch of the 2020 NCAA Division III Tournament game against Illinois Wesleyan just before CoVID-19 struck, in which Hope won, 72-69, to go 29-0 before the post season was cancelled, the Flying Dutch took care of business with a 99-73 win.

Head coach Brian Morehouse said after beating IWU, “We got off to a hot start. That won the game for us. I thought our starters were super-efficient to start the game. We moved the ball super well. We were efficient at sharing the ball. We turned the ball over a lot today – 15 assists, 13 turnovers against a team that creates a lot of turnovers is a good thing.
Hope finished with five players scoring in double figures and shot 52.1 percent from the floor.
