DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Dropping seven of their last eight games, the Detroit Pistons offense couldn’t keep up with the quickness of the Milwaukee Bucks, 116-91. Detroit is now 2-7 on the year and now have lost two straight.
Saddiq Bey led with 22 points while Isaiah Stewart added 16 points and 10 rebounds. Bojan Bogdanovic had 14 points and Cade Cunningham posted 10 points. Detroit did shoot 41 percent from the floor and was 14-of-15 from the foul line but Milwaukee made 46.7 percent of their shots and was 83 percent from the stripe. Giannis Antetokounmpo led all scorers with 32 points and 12 rebounds.
Detroit only trailed by five at the end of the first period, 31-26, and had the lead, 14-13, at one point. Bey went two-of-two at the free throw with 6:25 on the clock to give Detroit their first lead. A minute later, Bey made it 16-15 with a layup as the Pistons took the momentum. Milwaukee went on a 7-0 run over two minutes to go up, 22-16. The Pistons did pull to back within three, 29-26, on a Jaden Ivey three-pointer with 22 seconds left but Antekoumpo dunked down the final two points of the period making it, 31-26.
It took almost two minutes in the second period for anyone to score as Milwaukee had the first bucket, 33-26. With 8:49 left, Bey pulled Detroit to within four, 35-31, on a 26-foot jump shot. The Bucks followed with an 8-0 run going up 12 points, 43-31. Detroit was down as many as 13 points in the period and went into the half trailing, 56-47.
Milwaukee didn’t let the Pistons any closer than nine the rest of the way pulling away in the fourth quarter for the 25-point win.
Detroit will host the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night at 6:00 p.m.
