HOUGHTON LAKE, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Thanks to the hard work of the Michigan State Police, and their K9 Loki, an 80-year-old Northern Michigan hunter is safe.
Troopers from the MSP Houghton Lake Post were dispatched to an address on Nash Camp Road in Crawford County’s Lovells Township at 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday where the hunter’s wife said her husband was tracking a deer and hadn’t returned for three hours.

Loki and the troopers tracked the lost hunter just north of his residence and located him along the north branch of the Au Sable River.
The hunter was unharmed, but cold and wet due to falling into the river multiple times.
He was transported to Grayling Munson Hospital for further medical treatment and later discharged in good health, police said.
