LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Celebrants of the Christmas season can anticipate the return of the 38th Annual Silver Bells in downtown Lansing past the Capitol.

COVID-19 numbers and concerns caused the event cancellation in 2020 under Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and her administration, though some were able to watch a “Silver Bells Home Edition” televised version.  In previous years the event has garnered tens of thousands of holiday celebrants.

Silver Bells will begin at 5 pm and last roughly four hours.  At 6 pm the 25th Annual Electric Light Parade will start its route at the corner of Lenawee St. and South Washington Square.  City Officials anticipate more than sixty car floats, and numerous high school marching bands during the parade procession.

The entertainment does not end with the parade, but is followed by the lighting of the official 63 foot State Christmas tree.  Dansville native and American Idol contestant Jacob Moran will help ring in the season with a performance before the Capitol while with a 200 drone Firefly Drone Holiday Light Show synchronized to his performance in the sky.

The evening will conclude with an anticipated fireworks show over the Capitol after two years of no fireworks.
