DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – It was the Indiana Pacers first win in 13 tries breaking a 12-game losing streak dating back to last season in a 124-115 come from behind win over the Pistons. Detroit is now 1-2 on the year after opening the season with a win.

Cade Cunningham led the way with 22 points while Saddiq Bey added 20 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double. Both Isaiah Stewart (11 pts, 17 rebs) and Jaden Ivey (17 pts, 10 rebs) both had double-doubles. Bojan Bogdanovic added 16 points.

Detroit shot 38% but Indiana made 43% of their shots and recorded 15 blocks with seven steals.

Jumping out to a 10-point lead in the first quarter, 35-25, Detroit was cruising. Cunningham put Detroit up, 19-8, with 6:28 to go on a 24-foot three-pointer. Two free throws from Bey put the Pistons up by 14-points, 24-10. Detroit kept their distance the rest of the first period with a double-digit lead most of the way.

The Pacers outscored Detroit, 27-21, in the second quarter but the Pistons kept their lead. Isaiah Livers put in a layup at 9:43 for a 13-point lead, 40-27. Just a minute and half later, it was 40-36 on a 9-0 Pacers run. At the 6:30 mark, Indiana took the lead, 42-41 but it was short lived as Stewart canned a three-pointer for a two-point lead, 44-42. Detroit led the rest of the quarter as Indiana pulled within one, once, before being down four at the half, 56-52.

It was the third quarter where the difference in game developed. Indiana scored 36 points and held Detroit to just 23 to take an 88-79 lead into the fourth. Both teams then scored 36 points in the fourth quarter. With 5:32 left in the game, Bey had a finger roll layup to come within five points, 102-97. That is as close as Detroit would come as Indiana held onto the 124-115 win.

Detroit travels to the nation’s capital on Tuesday night to face the Washington Wizards at 7:00 p.m.
