DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – In a Friday night match up at Little Ceasars Arena for preseason NHL hockey, Detroit held off Toronto, 4-2. Tyler Bertuzzi posted two goals to led the team.
It didn’t take long for Detroit to get on the board as Nick Abruzzese put Toronto up, 1-0, just 1:55 into the first period. Rasmus Sandin moved Toronto’s lead to 2-0 at 6:05 but Bertuzzi had his first goal of the match at 17:48 from the left circle to cut the lead to one. It was Elmer Soderblom that tied the game at two on a backhand goal at 10:32 in the second period.

It was in the third period that Detroit would take the lead on a Joe Veleno goal when he came through as screen at 8:13 for the 3-2 lead. Bertuzzi collected the insurance goal with 54 seconds left to play as Detroit took the win, 4-2.
Alex Nedelijkovic had 21 saves for the Red Wins and Dylan Larkin had an assist.
Detroit will play Toronto, again, on Saturday, in Canada at 7:00 p.m. in the final exhibition of the preseason.
