DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Trailing from the beginning, the Detroit Pistons lost their final game of preseason to Memphis, 126-111. Detroit went 0-4 in the preseason and 0-2 at home. Five players scored in double figures as Saddiq Bey led the team with 17 points. Isaiah Stewart and Cade Cunningham both had 16 points.

Detroit shot just 39% from the floor and only 28% from the three-point line with four blocks on the night. They were out scored in the paint, 74-46, and only had 10 fast break points.

The Pistons took a 6-2 lead just two minutes into the game at 10:27 but then didn’t score for almost four minutes. In that time, Memphis went on a 12-2 run for the six-point lead, 14-8, at the 6:09 mark. Three minutes later, Detroit scored again to break double digits was then down, 23-10. They ended the quarter with 17 points trailing by 14, 31-17, at the end of the first.

Stewart drew Detroit to within seven, 37-30, on a jumper with 9:14 left in the second period. By the end of the half, though, Detroit had dwindled a 15-point lead down to seven, 60-53, on a Cory Joseph shot with 1.1 seconds left.

In the third quarter, Bey pulled up for a 26-foot jumper to come within four points, 62-58, at the 10:58 mark. Stewart hit a long three-pointer as 8:41 read on the clock pulling Detroit to within one point, 68-67. Cunningham then tied the game at 70 on a free throw with 8:18 to go in the period but Detroit hit an offensive skid the next three minutes. Memphis went on an 11-0 run for an 81-70 lead. Detroit could get no closer than five points as the ended the fourth down, 95-88.

It took almost two minutes for Detroit to score in the fourth period as Memphis moved the lead to 104-90. Memphis then kept their distance the rest of the period for the 126-111 win.
