ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Olympian great Michael Phelps will be at the Maize Out game on Saturday against Penn State in the most anticipated game of the year for the Wolverines. Head coach Jim Harbaugh announced on Monday at his press conference that Phelps was going to be the honorary captain. Phelps talked to the team back in August and Harbaugh said that he gave a “phenomenal presentation.”

The 23-time Olympic Gold Medalist studied for four years at Michigan and trained under then-Wolverines head coach Bob Bowman. It will be a perfect match for that Saturday as the best all-time swimmer will be with the all-time winningest football program.

A top 10 match up will take place at Michigan Stadium as the #4 Wolverines put their 6-0 record on the line against 5-0 #10 Penn State. Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff will be in Ann Arbor for their morning show with the two teams kicking off at 12 p.m.

This game will feature many promotions along with Phelps leading the Maize Out. There will be a flyover by Air Force F-16s from the 112th Fighter Squadron of the 180th Fighter wing. The 1997 national championship team will be recognized for the 25th anniversary along with Charles Woodson’s Heisman Trophy. Michigan will also recognized Aidan Hutchinson for the Lott Impact Trophy along with the wrestling team that won the Big Ten Championship.
