DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Detroit tasted loss for the first time this year after starting off 2-0 as the Los Angeles Kings scored late for the 5-4 win. David Perron netted two goals for the Red Wings at Little Ceasars Arena.
Detroit took the quick 1-0 lead in the first period on an Adam Erne goal just 4:26 in. Los Angeles scored the next two goals at 4:45 and 14:40 to go up, 2-1. Dominik Kubalik tied the game at two in the second period on a pass from Olli Maatta at the 9:15 mark. Seven minutes later, the Kings made it 3-2 but Oskar Sundgvist pass to Perron tied it at three with 41 seconds left in the period.

It was a crazy third period as Los Angeles scored seven minutes in for the 4-3 lead but Sundgvist scored in the final minute to tie the game at four and send it to overtime. In overtime, the Kings scored at 1:12 to take the game.
Head coach Derek Lalonde said, “To come back three times, score late, trail a game going into the third and get a point is a pretty good sign. Obviously, giving up four goals was too much. It was a great team effort. Some bounces didn’t go our way, but we battled.”
Detroit will travel to Chicago on Friday to face the Blackhawks at 8:30 p.m.
