DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Detroit has made their last part of the 2022 season exciting of late with the young players that were brought up to see what they could do. Well, the Tigers are now on a four-game winning streak with a walk-off win for win number 61.
Harold Castro was the hero driving in the winning run as Ryan Kreidler came in. Castro took an 0-2 count and hit a line drive to center field off of Anthony Misiewicz as the team celebrated Kreidler coming home. Overall, Castro led the team with three hits and three RBI as Riley Greene and Akil Baddoo added two hits.

Detroit split up the pitching with six different players. Joey Wentz started the game going five innings recording four strikeouts with three earned runs. It was Alex Lange that came in the 10th inning to receive the win. After a single to start the inning, there was a fly out and a double play to end the threat. In extra innings, a runner is placed on second base as Tucker Barnhart had a sacrifice bunt to send Kreidler to third base. After an intentional walk to put runners on the corners, Greene struck out for the first out. Anthony Misiewicz was then intentionally walked, too, to load the bases. Castro then followed with the walk-off single for the victory.
Kansas City opened the game with two runs in the second inning and one in the fourth inning for a 3-0 lead. It took Detroit eight innings to score after not being able to find anything in the first seven innings. Greene singled in Spencer Torkelson for the first run in the eighth and then Castro singled to left field for two RBI to tie the game as both Jonathan Schoop and Baddoo came in.
Detroit will host Kansas City at 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday night in the second game of the series.
