MANISTEE COUNTY, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A picture that some speculated showed a jaguar has been debunked by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) as a house cat.

DNR officials said they visited the Twisted Trails Off Road Park with the photographer who captured the photos and re-enacted the pictures. They believe the cat is 20 to 30-inches long.

However, the DNR’s cougar team looked at the pictures and said they can’t conclude it’s not a jaguar, but did say they believe its a domestic cat or possible hybrid.

The DNR does say the cat is not dangerous.
