LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – As the small game and turkey hunting seasons are nearly upon Michiganders, hunters and anglers are reminded to use the new comprehensive Michigan DNR Hunt Fish app offered for Apple and Android devices.

The new app allows hunters to accomplish many tasks including purchasing licenses and reporting harvests.  It provides regulations and guides, detailed maps which include boat launches, and current DNR messages.

According to the DNR, the app is designed as a hybrid solution, meaning users need internet access for some features – including making purchases, reporting harvests, downloading guides and digests, checking points/chances and drawing results, and viewing a map of DNR locations – but they can view all license purchases and downloaded guides/digests regardless of internet connectivity.

Some hunting publications – like waterfowl and fall turkey digests – will not be printed this year, but the app provides hunters with the ability to still find up to date information regarding conditions for these hunting seasons.

Several small game hunting seasons begin tomorrow / Thursday including: fox, gray squirrel, hare, rabbit, ruffed grouse, and woodcock.  Hunters need only a base license to participate in hunting these animals.

Woodcock hunters will also need to secure a free woodcock stamp – which includes your Harvest Information Program registration – in addition to the small game license.

Those who did not enter for a limited-quota license for the beginning of Turkey season – starting tomorrow – can still get a leftover license until quotas are met.  Hunters may purchase up to one license a day.

2022 base licenses can be purchased at the DNR website, through the new Michigan DNR Hunt Fish app or any vendor where DNR licenses are sold.
