LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – On Thursday afternoon, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and President Joe Biden ordered Michigan and U.S. flags to be lowered to half-staff immediately to honor and remember Queen Elizabeth II.

“Queen Elizabeth II lived through and shaped history during her nearly 70-year reign,” said Gov. Whitmer in a press release. “In accordance with the president’s proclamation, we are lowering flags to honor her memory. My thoughts are with the royal family and the people of the United Kingdom.”

Queen Elizabeth II served her nation for seven decades. Whitmer remarked that “her grit and her legacy as a remarkable leader and unwavering public servant will be remembered by many.”
