DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – In another close game, Detroit came short again after having a one-run lead. After the third inning, Detroit was up, 4-3, only to see the White Sox tie the game in the fourth and add a run in the seventh and eighth innings for the 6-4 loss. Joe Jimenez worked just 0.2 innings receiving the loss giving up the go-ahead run in the seventh inning. Matt Manning started the game going five innings with five strikeouts and four earned runs. Overall, five pitchers were used in the game.
Harold Castro and Akil Baddoo each had two hits but Riley Greene led the team with three RBI. Eric Haase recorded the other RBI.

Chicago took a 1-0 lead in the first inning but Detroit bounced back for three runs in the top of the second. Greene brought in three runs with a double to center field as Kerry Carpenter, Jonathan Schoop, and Baddoo all came in for the 3-1 lead. Chicago answered right back in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at three.
Detroit didn’t go away as they retook the lead, 4-3, on a Haase double as Castro was the fourth run. That is all the Detroit could muster as giving up the tying run in the bottom of the fourth inning. After two scoreless innings, Jimenez gave up the go-ahead run with two outs as Chicago took the lead, 5-4. They then added another run in the eighth to secure the win, 6-4.
The third and final game of the series is on Sunday at 2:10 p.m. before the Tigers head to Cleveland for four games.
