DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – Matt Manning only went 2.1 innings with just one strikeout giving up seven earned runs to Seattle to start the game. From that point on, Detroit used five pitchers but combined they only gave up two earned runs. Manning was rocked in the third inning giving up six runs as Seattle took control of the game.
After a scoreless first inning, Seattle took a 1-0 lead in the second. It was the third inning that the Mariners knocked out Manning scoring six runs. Daniel Norris had the best outing of the pitching staff going three innings with two strikeouts and two earned runs.

Miguel Cabrera and Kerry Carpenter both had two hits to lead the team. Riley Greene, Zack Short, and Jeimer Candelario each had a RBI.
It wasn’t until the eighth inning that Detroit found a round down 9-0. Greene brought in a run on a triple to centerfield bringing in Willi Castro. Short then had a sacrifice fly to score Greene. In the ninth with no outs, Candelario singled in Kerry Carpenter for the final run.
They will play again on Wednesday night at 7:10 p.m.
