LANSING, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – A new poll from Mitchell Research and Communications, commissioned by MIRS, shows Republican congressional candidate John James leading Democratic opponent Carl Marlinga 47% to 38% among a sample of 429 likely 10th congressional district voters.

The Mitchell poll conducted Aug 16-21 has a margin of error of 4.73%.
The poll revealed good news for GOP gubernatorial candidate Tudor Dixon. It showed Dixon leading incumbent Gov. Gretchen Whitmer with 48% to 47% in the 10th Congressional District.
Of those who participated in the survey, 38% are Democratic or lean Democratic while 36% were Republican or someone who leans Republican. The remaining 26% are independent.
When it comes to issues that concern voters, a 31% plurality says the economy is their top issue, followed by abortion at 24%, inflation at 16% and “other” at 29%.
Meanwhile, a poll from Target Insyght released by Marlinga’s campaign shows Marlinga up 2%, which is within the poll’s 5% margin of error. That Aug. 16-18 respondent sample had 43% of respondents being Democrats while 39% responded they were Republicans. The remainder are 18%.
This poll also found that 60% support the right to choose on abortion while 20% want to eliminate the right to choose. The final 20% are undecided.
