ANN ARBOR, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Slowly adding recruits to the 2023 class, University of Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh now has a tight end in Zack Marshall. Coming from California, the 6-4, 220 pound athlete is ranked 685th in the nation and 51st best in California.

The Carlsbad High School product confirmed his decision when he went to the Wolverines big BBQ weekend at the end of July. His other two finalists before that weekend were the University of California and Utah.

From 247Sports, Marshall says, “Coach Harbaugh seems like a great guy and I enjoyed talking to him. He’s funny but also pretty intense and he’s all about winning and development. He also has a NFL background and knows what it takes to get there. Every starting tight end since 2016 has played in the NFL. That’s a crazy stat but shows how well they develop players and the offense they run is obviously very tight end friendly.”

His junior season brought 44 catches for 1,012 yards and nine touchdowns. At Team Makasi Camp this summer, he was 25 pounds heavier than a year prior, ran a 4.69 40-yard dash, posted a4.49 shuttle and had a 31” jump for the vertical. With his performance, he earned the Camp MVP honors.

Marshall is transferring to Carlsbad High School and has to sit out the first four games of the year but will have a great quarterback throwing to him in five-star ’24 player Julian Sayin. With Marshall’s commitment, Harbaugh now has the 27th ranked class in 2023 as six of the 14 commits are on offense.
