HOLLAND, Mich. (Michigan News Source) – Don’t let the warm temperatures fool you if you are headed to the beaches along Lake Michigan.

Despite the beautiful summer weather so far, Lake Michigan at Holland State Park and other beaches is so cold there is a risk of hypothermia.

Temperatures were 50 degrees Tuesday morning.

A northeast wind over the weekend brought an upswell of cold water into Lake Michigan.

Officials urge people to use extreme caution if they plan to swim in Lake Michigan.
