DETROIT (Michigan News Source) – GOP gubernatorial frontrunner Tudor Dixon and her campaign have issued a cease-and-desist letter to Michigan TV stations demanding they stop airing a political ad which claims Dixon will slash funding for police if she’s elected.
A front group for the Democratic Governors Association spent $2 million for the ads to air during the final days leading up to the August 2 primary.

Dixon, who has been endorsed by the Police Officer’s Association of Michigan, met with the group on Wednesday, the day the ad started to air. During the roundtable, she called the claims in the ad “complete baloney” and “absolute bull.”
On Wednesday night, Dixon sparred with the four other GOP governor hopefuls in the last debate before the primary. She acknowledged the attack ads before the audience in Pontiac.
“Even the Democrats today are saying that I’m the best person to get Gretchen Whitmer out of office because they’ve launched a $2 million attack ad against me,” Dixon said. “Even my opponents on the stage would say that I’m the best person to win this election because they’re attacking me as well.”
Michigan voters will whittle down the list of five GOP gubernatorial candidates when they head to the polls on Tuesday, August 2.
