CHICAGO (Michigan News Source) – A two-run home run by Javier Baez in the top of the first inning propelled Detroit to the early 2-0 lead. The Tigers held that until Chicago tied the game in the sixth inning. The momentum shifted to the White Sox in the bottom of the eighth inning as they scored two unearned runs with two outs in the inning. Michael Fulmer received the loss.
With two outs, left field Robbie Grossman recorded a fielding error that allowed Luis Roberts on base. Gregory Soto came in after that error in relief of Fulmer giving up back-to-back singles to right field as the White Sox took the lead, 4-2, and evened the series with two wins each.
