Hutchinson quoted after being drafted by the Lions to head coach Dan Campbell, “You aren’t going to regret this. I promise you that.”

Hutchinson was the 2021 Heisman Trophy runner-up and won the Ted Hendricks, Lott IMPACT Trophy, Chicago Tribune Silver Football, and Lombardi award as a defensive lineman. He set the Michigan single season sack record with 14 with 15 tackles for loss and 55 total tackles. In his four years he posted 153 tackles, 18.5 sacks, and 26.5 tackles for loss.
“My dominate trait is my instincts,” says Hutchinson. “I feel that is what separates me from a lot of guys. I call it my ‘spidey sense’ as I could feel that play was coming.”
The son of former Michigan great Chris Hutchinson, Aidan followed in his father’s footsteps to Michigan. Like his father, he helped the Wolverines win “The Game” vs. Ohio State. The Plymouth, Mich., native played at Divine Child High School in Dearborn making it to the 2018 U.S. Army All-American game posting two sacks.
One of the biggest assets for Hutchinson is his speed on the end. He says, “I bring everything to the table when it comes to speed and power. I am very physical.”
That showed in the 2021 season, his best at Michigan, recording the Michigan record for sacks with 14. In “The Game,” he tied his career high with three sacks for negative 14 yards. He also had three sacks vs. Penn State on November 13. The CoSIDA Academic All-American was a consensus All-American, Michigan’s Male Athlete of the Year, Big Ten Championship Game MVP, and the Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year.
As the no. 1 recruit in the State of Michigan in 2017 by the USA Today, he was a four-star recruit and the no. 8 defensive end in the nation. At every stop Hutchinson has made in his life, he has been successful and helped grow programs. That is why the Detroit Lions took him in hopes of a bright future for their organization.
