CHICAGO (Michigan News Source) -Gregory Soto ended the Chicago White Sox threat in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Tigers won their fifth game in a row holding onto a 2-1 win. Soto gave up one run but with one out and Luis Roberts on second base, he followed with a strikeout and a ground out to end the game earning his 17th save of the year.
Beau Brieske gained his second win of the season with 6.1 innings of work and four strikeouts.

Javier Baez hit a 383-foot home run in the top of the fourth inning for the 1-0 lead.
Spencer Torkelson had a pinch hit RBI in the top of the ninth inning to left field as Eric Haase scored making it 2-0. Five players each had one hit.
Detroit plays the second game of the series in Chicago on Friday night at 8:10 p.m. looking for their 36th win of the year.
