Two scoreless innings took place until the top of third inning when Grossman recorded his 10th double of the year scoring both Candelario and Baez. Grossman came through, again, in the fifth inning with his second double of the game as Greene was the third run of the game.
Oakland put their first run on the board in the fifth but Detroit plated four runs in the final three innings.
Candelario homered in the seventh inning, Schoop doubled in Eric Haase in the eighth and then added a sac fly in the ninth. Greene came through in the ninth, too, with a single to right field as Zack Short came home.
