LANSING, Mich. (Great Lakes News) – Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s administration isn’t the only branch of Michigan’s government offering payouts, as word of the Michigan legislature cutting separation agreements surfaces.

Governor Whitmer has come under fire for cutting separation agreements by doling out taxpayer cash and sealed with a secrecy clause. Most notably, former health department head Robert Gordon received $155,000 after his abrupt resignation in January.

The Detroit News is now reporting that Republican lawmakers have cut 20 similar deals over the past five years totaling $373,000 in taxpayer money.

However, only one of those deals include a disparagement agreement.
