LANSING, Mich. (Great Lakes News) – Former Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Director Robert Gordon received a sweetheart deal in exchange for his silence.

The Detroit News reported former Michigan Health and Human Services Director Robert Gordon received $155,506 in a separation deal after he abruptly resigned as the state’s health director in January.

That amount is equal to nine months of pay and benefits.

After Gordon resigned, Gov. Whitmer awkwardly refused to discuss his mysterious departure.

The agreement was financed with taxpayer funds.

Meanwhile, Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel weighed in on what this could mean for an investigation into Whitmer’s policy of sending COVID-19 positive patients back into nursing homes.

“This is long overdue,” McDaniel said. “We saw Gretchen Whitmer preen for the T.V. cameras but on the backend refusing to be transparent with Michiganders about how she handled coronavirus.”

McDaniel also added, “With this payoff, it’s very concerning.”
